The gift of Christmas.

Friday.  It was actually today, Christmas Eve — that final, down-to-the-last-minute day.  So, Jim and I got out on the streets of NY and saw the crowds doing all that last minute stuff.  It was fun to see.  The weather was sunny but very cold.  Our main chores were to pick up the roast for tomorrow’s meal from the neighborhood meat market, as well as a red velvet cake from the neighborhood bakery, both very close to our apt.

Rob was tired today, so he did just what he should have done — he rested.  He did not get out at all because he didn’t feel like pushing it.  Therefore, we did not go to the Christmas Eve service as we had expected we would, but that is how it needed to be.  Being together with our family is just the best gift we can have this Christmas.

Thanks be to God for the indescribable gift of His son.  The birth of Christ — the reason for all the celebrating.  Merry, merry Christmas.
