Thursday afternoon. 5:10 pm. Rob’s surgery was successful, and it is over! Dr. Rapp started surgery around 11:30 – 11:45 (I am estimating) and he came out to talk with us around 2:20. Some of what he said: the margins were good (the tumor was confined to the area of the leg that was removed); the tumor was around the size of an elongated softball; it was apparent that the chemo and radiation had worked on “killing” it; and there was calcification evident, as well. Anyway, that intruder is now gone, so that is the wonder of it all! Praise and thank you, Lord!!!
We’ve now seen Rob in the recovery area and he is doing well. He was talking to us, saying he could feel that his right heel (no longer there) was itching. And, he was ready for some more morphine…. but he is one tough fellow, and he’s already making the best of it.
A huge thank you to so many of you, our loving family and good friends. How can we express adequately our enduring gratitude to so many praying folks? We could feel your prayers, we could feel God’s presence and peace, and most importantly, God heard all the prayers and brought Rob through with flying colors today. To God be the glory.
Psalm 46: 1, 10 – God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble…. “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world.”
