God is good.

Friday night.  Rob is doing well — even though he’s in pain, he keeps a positive outlook. The pain management group is working with him, trying to get the various meds and dosages worked out.  After the surgery, pain meds were being infused through an epidural, but to minimize risk of infection, it could only stay in place for 24 hours. That was working fairly well, so Rob wasn’t happy about its removal!  But, his spirits are good, and he will fight his way through these days of pain, I’m sure.  He was in the special-care-unit last night, but was moved into a room this afternoon.

We will obviously be back at the hospital with him tomorrow.  Fanester and Joan are scheduled to arrive tomorrow, mid-day, so there will be no shortage of company or entertainment for him!

We continue to marvel at God’s goodness and graciousness to Rob and to all of us!

From Psalm 103  –  Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits — who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s….. Praise the LORD, O my soul.

Thank you for inspiring me and I’m sure so many others. I just finished Beth Moore’s book “Out of the Pit”, and she uses this scripture verse. God’s Word is timeless–speaks to all generations–I lit a candle for Rob this morning. I do hope he will not have to endure so much pain for very long. Love you all!! Sylvia

Love your title and how true that God is so Good!Thank you for keeping us posted and sounds like now you shift to being a “nurse” but hopefully you will get some rest and let the others take over! Tell Rob we are lifting positive thoughts up for him ! It is amazing how the human body heals and we just have to have patience. Love to all!

Praise the Lord that that tumor is GONE! All your blogs have been so inspiring and have continually reminded me how good God is! I have been praying for Rob even though I haven’t been too good about commenting on your blogs. I hope that Rob is not in as much pain now. I remember when I was in the hospital with a collapsed lung, Brad brought me a Hillsong CD with the song, “God is good all the time God is good”. He certainly does work out all things for our good! Rob has been so brave and had such a good attitude through all this ordeal. We will continue to pray for his recovery and renewed strength and for you and Jim and Lee Anne and Jack. Love- Brad and Linn
PS Give our love to Rob and your family!

  4. As usual, I am awestruck on this journey of yours. God is Good! Your blogs have been so uplifting to us, how does that work? That is our job for you- please know you are never far from all the Brodheads and Walz- even in Australia- prayers are being lifted up for all of you. I pray the pain will subside and Rob will cope. Another journey around the corner… my parents at school are praying. Take care of yourself and may God continue to wrap His love and peace around your extraordinary family.

I have been reading your blog for so long but have never written to you! I appreciate the care and energy you put in to communicating what you and Jim are going through. I am so thankful that you all are there with your sweet boy to get him through this tough journey. Know that you are being held so close in our hearts and prayers. We can’t wait for you all to be home again!
